5 Gen Z Beauty Trends We’ll Be Wearing This Season | Blog

Gen z beauty trends

When it comes to trends, there’s no denying that TikTok-loving Gen Zers are paving the way and inspiring countless beauty trends that are influencing the masses, whether that’s on Instagram or at top luxury design houses.

So today, we’re reviewing five beauty trends we’ve been seeing all over social media, from the Gen Z community and celeb Gen Z muses. We admit some are more wearable than others, but trust us, if you slay one of these trends, you’ll be raking in the compliments from your Gen Z fam. One thing that they all have in common? They’re rebellious and carefree. Cue the song: Young, Wild, and Free. Wait, is that Gen Z-approved?

1. Black Lipstick

Gen Z rating: 7/10

Red may be the classic hue, but black lipstick? It radiates bag gal energy *hint hint.* If you’re wondering where this lipstick trend originates, look to queen RiRi. The singer has influenced her Gen Z and Fenty Beauty lovers to experiment with the bold lipstick color forever. Plus, considering ‘goth girl’ is one of THE most popular Gen Z aesthetics, it was only a matter of time before black lipstick became an essential hue in the Gen Z repertoire.

2. Pigtail Twists

Gen Z rating: 8/10

If there’s one era that Gen Z is devoted to, it’s the 2000s. Collectively, they’ve brought back skinny brows, low-rise jeans, not to mention countless Y2K hair trends. Case in point: twisted pigtails.

When we saw models at the REJINA PYO SS22 show come down the catwalk with twisted pigtails, we began to question if this would be the next BIG Y2K hair trend. Turns out Gen Z muse Dua Lipa had already made a case for the hairstyle during the summer, and Bella Hadid was also recently seen debuting the look in NYC.

We’re low-key into the pigtail style. It’s sleek, sexy, and it works well with all hair textures. It also looks super cute when styled with a hat, making it ideal for winter.

3. Spikey Top Knot

Gen Z rating: 10/10

Out of all the nostalgic Y2K hair trends, the spikey top knot is the most iconic. Loved by the likes of Bella Hadid, Lizzo, and Gen Z QUEEN, Olivia Rodrigo, there’s something incredibly cute yet rebellious about it. While we admit it may not be a new hair trend, it saw a modern renaissance at LFW during the Nensi Dojaka show. It’s also all over Pinterest and of course, TikTok!

4. Pearl Everything

Gen Z rating: 9/10

While the comeback of pearls has been predominately within jewelry over the past few years, pearls have been slowly making an appearance in the beauty space. Think Euphoria-obsessed Gen Z. Featuring on some of the biggest red carpets of the year, from the MTV awards and the VMAs to the Met, everything from lids, nails, and hair were all adorned in pearls. There’s something so luxe and whimsical about pearl detailing; we expect it to be BIG this winter.

5. Graphic Cat-eye Liner

Gen Z rating: 7/10

Dramatic liner trends have infiltrated our feed in a major way ever since we ditched no-makeup makeup in favor of out-out glam. Now we’re seeing the most dramatic liner trend yet, which plays with graphic shapes in monochromatic hues to accentuate the eye. We’ve got to admit, we’re in love.
