Ubisoft’s upcoming game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been delayed to allow developers the time to properly work on it.
Last year, Ubisoft gave us our first look at its upcoming Avatar game based around the James Cameron films of the same name. Little is known of the upcoming game, titled Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora, beyond the fact that it will take place on the same world and will involve conflicts between the Na’vi and humans. The game was originally set to be released later this year to coincide with the release of Avatar: The Way of Water but has now been delayed.
As part of it’s financial earnings, Ubisoft revealed that the upcoming Avatar game would now be released sometime between 2023-2024:
“Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will now release in 2023-24. We are committed to delivering a cutting-edge immersive experience that takes full advantage of next-gen technology, as this amazing global entertainment brand represents a major multi-year opportunity for Ubisoft,” the publisher said of the delay. “While this additional development time is a reflection of the current ongoing constraints on productions across the industry, we are hard at work to design the most efficient working conditions to ensure both flexibility for our teams as well as strong productivity while delivering the best experiences to players.”
Here is the synopsis for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water:
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
Directed by James Cameron from a script he co-wrote with Josh Friedman, the sequel stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, and Kate Winslet.
Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters on December 16, 2022.
