It’s always a good idea to switch up your skincare routine between seasons, especially if the winter months, plus two years of pandemic and masks, have left your skin looking and feeling tired and dull. I’ve put together a Spring Skincare Routine for 2022 with a range of products I love that are all affordable and available at Boots. Here’s everything you need to know.
Spring Skincare Tips for 2022
After two years of living through a pandemic, wearing masks daily plus the winter months, many of us could do with a bit of a skincare boost.
We need to choose products and ingredients that will inject a bit of life into our skin and also provide protection from the environment and UV.
Spring Skincare Must-Haves
Skin is affected by a lot of different factors but one of the main elements is the environment and in particular the sun and heat.
Apply SPF Sun Protection Daily
I tend to use an SPF as part of my skincare routine all year round but it is especially important during Spring and Summer.
I’d recommend you use an SPF30 or SPF50 every single day. I usually choose 50, however, the difference between the two is not as much as you think.
An SPF50 filters out 98% of UV radiation compared to 96.7% by SPF30.

Top Up Your SPF Regularly
Whether you choose an SPF30 or an SPF50, the most crucial part is keeping it topped up.
Make sure you re-apply your SPF regularly. If you’re out and about, it’s a good idea to top up every two hours and always after you have been swimming, sweating, or have used a towel. Re-application every two hours is the only way to maintain the level of protection that the product promises to offer.
If you’re a makeup wearer like me, topping up with a cream or lotion can be a little tricky but there are lots of brilliant mists you can buy now.
Add a Vitamin C Into Your Routine
Vitamin C and SPF are a power couple when it comes to protecting your skin from environmental aggressors.
Incorporating a Vitamin C into your Spring Skincare routine will be a game changer if you suffer with dullness or hyperpigmentation. Not only is it a brilliant antioxidant that protects skin from free radical damage, it’s also amazing for brightening the skin.
Layer your Vitamin C under SPF in the morning for ultimate protection.
Daytime Spring Skincare Routine 2022
I have put together this morning skincare routine for Spring 2022 which will ensure you are well prepared for the change of season and equipped to protect your skin from the sun and environment.
Morning Cleanse
You only need a light cleanse first thing in the morning and a lovely Micellar cleansing water is just the ticket.
The Garnier Micellar Water Facial Cleanser is great for all skin types including sensitive, and it uses cleansing molecules called micelles to attract and remove oil and dirt from the skin.
It’s really easy to use and all you need to do it splash a few drops onto a pad and sweep it over the skin. It’s also a great first cleanse in the evening to remove your makeup.
Apply Eye Cream
Not everyone uses an eye cream but I am a big believer in giving the delicate skin around the eyes special attention. It can be sensitive to some stronger or more active ingredients, so I like to use a gentle eye cream as a block before applying serums to the rest of my face.
The CeraVe Reparative Eye Cream is super gentle and works on tackling the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. It features 3 essential ceramides to strengthen the skin barrier plus Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and plump.
Use a Vitamin C Serum
As I said above, if you ever want to increase your antioxidants, protect skin from the environment, and boost UV protection, a Vitamin C serum is the way to go.
La Roche-Posay Pure Vitamin C 10 Serum is an excellent addition to your Spring skincare routine because it’s packed full of glow boosting ingredients including a decent 10% dose of Vitamin C formulated in a gentle way with La Roche-Posay’s expertise in sensitive skin care.
There’s also Hyaluronic Acid to plump and hydrate, Salicylic Acid to exfoliate the skin surface and LRP’s Thermal Spa Water to restore the skin barrier.
Moisturise Face, Neck and Decolletage
I love to use a moisturiser daily, even if my serum and SPF has moisturising properties, however, you could skip this step unless you have dry skin.
I absolutely love Curél and their Intensive Moisture Facial Cream is a super light yet nourishing moisturiser that really delivers. It uses Curél’s Ceramide Care system with squalane and eucalyptus leaf extract for a lovely hit of hydration.
Apply and Top Up Your SPF
This is the most crucial step in your Spring Skincare Routine. You need a good SPF as the last step in your skincare, and I also have a great recommendation for an easy way to top up for the makeup wearers!
The Eucerin Sun Pigment Control Anti Dark Spot Sun Cream for Face SPF 50+ is great because it provides excellent protection in a light texture that absorbs easily.
It also has an ingredient called Thiamidol which works to visibly reduce dark spots over time so it’s the ideal addition to your Spring skincare routine.
As I keep mentioning, it’s just as important to ensure you keep your SPF topped up as it is to apply it in the first place. I find one of the easiest ways to do this is to carry a good quality SPF mist with you. Not only is it super convenient and mess-free, but most importantly you can apply it over makeup. It’s win win situation.
I love the Garnier Ambre Solaire Sensitive Hydrating Face Sun Cream Mist SPF50. It’s amazing because it’s hydrating as well as protective and it also has Vitamin E in the formula so you can top up your antioxidants too. It’s brilliant.
