Flavia Leal left Brazil and arrived in the United States in 2000 with determination and grit. She certainly fought hard, navigating grueling work weeks totaling over 80 hours while living in below-standard housing conditions, all while raising a child as a single mother. To top it all off, she was also working toward completing a college degree.
Having lost her father in 2008, followed by her mother in 2009 to cancer, including seeing her daughter diagnosed with ADHD, it would be enough to cripple anyone’s dreams.
Not Leal.
She went on to complete college in 2009, and just two years later, she launched her signature name-brand makeup line in 2012 and also founded her first school that year prior to purchasing her second one in 2013, which she essentially brought back to life from a previous owner who ran it for over 50 years. After guiding the schools to prominence while achieving numerous accolades along the way, including awards, she began a series of enrollments and workshops, furthering her reach. Additionally, she has been recognized for her contributions to the industry all over the world, including in the United States, South America, and Europe.
“Do what you have to do, not what you want to do,” Leal said. “When our minds get tired, we don’t want to open the door because of what is on the other side, but we have to do these things to grow.”
Leal is licensed across numerous areas of beauty, with a wide variety of both domestic and international certifications. She is an expert in manicures, cosmetology, airbrush, esthetics, artificial nail techniques, cosmetic product demonstration, and eyebrow design, just to name a few. She also teaches makeup and esthetics.
Having garnered experience and notoriety in the beauty industry, including topnotch skills, techniques, and capabilities, as well as scaling her businesses, the widely-renowned beautician has set her sights on motivating and guiding her students for success.
Motivation and Education
In addition to helping students earn degrees in specialties like cosmetology, esthetics, and advanced beauty techniques and specialties, Leal also wants them to grow, both personally and professionally, upon entering the workforce. She and her academies teach the specifics of the beauty industry and help students earn certifications, but it is what she is lesser known for that makes her that much more special in the industry.
That is her motivational speaking and teachings.
She lives by the moniker, ‘Meet people. Help people. Be generous.’, which she preaches among her students each day. Her goal is to help them learn from her experiences and light a fire in them to motivate them toward success.
“Everything is possible. It depends on what you want and believes in, despite where you come from or who you are,” said Leal. “I like to help people. No one can tell anyone that they are not good enough. I opened my school to help all students, regardless of where they come from.”
