Neil Gaiman revealed why Netflix has yet to renew The Sandman for a second season.
Netflix’s new series The Sandman dropped its first season early last month, and since its release it has become one of the streaming platform’s most popular shows. Given its popularity with critics and audiences alike, some are curious as to why we have yet to hear any news regarding its possible renewal, and it looks like author Neil Gaiman has some information on that.
Neil Gaiman, the author behind The Sandman comic book series took to Twitter to explain why Netflix has yet to renew the series for a Season 2. As it turns out, data harvesting just recently finished, and the series had viewers spreading each of their viewings out rather than following the traditional binging model that has been made popular from the streaming format:

As Neil Gaiman mentioned in his tweet, calling on Netflix to make their decision as soon as possible will not make an announcement come any sooner. In the mean time, fans must sit patiently until then and perhaps rewatch the first season or better yet, dive into the original The Sandman comic book series.

Wonder Woman co-writer Allan Heinberg serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer on Sandman. In addition to their duties as writers, Neil Gaiman and David S. Goyer are also on board as executive producers.
