The Dyson Airwrap Styler needs no introduction – since its launch in 2018, it’s earned its stripes as a high-performance, versatile hair styling tool that calls upon innovative air flow technology to deliver results while minimising heat damage. It’s a backstage staple, a celebrity favourite and it’s constantly going viral on TikTok for its unique ability to create the ultimate curtain bangs.

Today, Dyson announced the next generation of the Dyson Airwrap – the Airwrap Multi-Styler – which has been radically redesigned and reengineered for faster, easier styling while still avoiding high heat. So, what’s new? The new Multi-Styler still relies upon the Coanda effect (a phenomenon that uses high-speed airflow to whip hair across a surface, setting it in a new salon-finish style) but the Dyson engineers have amped it up to be even more powerful than before. There’s a selection of new attachments, too, that aim to make the styling process more seamless.

First up, the styling barrels (which come in 30mm and 40mm) are now multi-directional, meaning you don’t have to swap attachments mid-way through depending on which direction you want your curls to go. With the Multi-Styler, you just flick a switch and the airflow changes direction to create multi-dimensional, natural looking curls effortlessly.

The hair drying attachment has also had a makeover and the pre-styling dryer has been replaced with the Coanda Smoothing Dryer, which is dual-purpose, able to use the Coanda effect to reduce flyaways in a single pass as well as offer powerful drying with the flick of a switch.

Then there’s the new Firm and Soft Smoothing Brushes, which use amplified Coanda technology to provide better control than the original brushes to leave hair straighter and smoother than before. Plus, there’s a wide-tooth comb attachment, which has been engineered for curly and coily hair to help enhance volume and definition, as well as a round volumising brush, which provides the option to use the Multi-Styler as a more traditional hot brush.

One consideration for anyone thinking of investing in a Multi-Styler before they sell out will undoubtedly be the £479 price tag. While a significant investment, that price does include eight attachments, which provides a comprehensive range of styling choices that means you wouldn’t have to supplement your collection with any other hair tool. We’re certainly tempted…
