Milano Fragranze Panettone Perfume Review

Milano Fragranze Panettone Eau de Parfum manages to capture the scent of freshly-baked panettone; full of orange zest and raisins soaked in rum kneaded into buttery dough. It was sweet but not overwhelmingly sugary to me, as the orange lifted it, the butter enriched it, and the rum added depth to the vanilla. The notes are:

The opening is a contrast between sharp, sweet, and bitter before smoothing and billowing with springy, buttery bread. The first minute had an underlying bitter citrus layer with juicy, freshly-squeezed orange dribbling over, with rooty, carroty sweetness. I was trying to decipher all of the notes–and ran out of time!–before it was rich, buttery, and flaking with a bready quality and almost no citrus left to talk about.

Given another five minutes, the citrus came back and transformed into more candied orange and rum-soaked raisins enveloped by sweet bread–exactly what panettone is. They married together into a highly gourmand, decadent treat that evoked the real deal. It was quite linear from this point with the fragrance getting slightly weaker over the next several hours, but the spiced fruit and buttery bread aspects lingered, albeit softer.

Application

For testing, I used 1/3 of a 0.7ml sample vial dabbed to the underside and topside of my wrist area on my left arm. I used an unscented moisturizer prior to applying the scent as this is also my swatching arm (aka, incredibly parched at any given moment) as I found scent did not hold well here otherwise.

Longevity

It lasted for eight hours until it was a skin-scent and about 14 hours before it was quite difficult to detect on my skin. The sillage and projection were moderate with the sillage not starting to drop until the third hour.

Personal Thoughts

Panettone was something that I decided to try alongside a very coffee gourmand scent–why not!–and it was impressive just how realistic it was. For that aspect, I had a good time testing it out and seeing how it wore, but it didn’t convert me into buying a full bottle because I know I’d favor so many other fragrance styles over this.
